6/7/2023 0 Comments The neapolitan quartetThe four books in the quartet are “My Brilliant Friend” (2012), “The Story of a New Name” (2013), “Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay” (2014), and “The story of the Lost Child” (2015). They are like the “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, one story across multiple books. Ferrante has described them as “a single novel” published in four volumes due to length and duration. I devoured these books, not hesitating in going immediately from one to the next, as if each book were merely chapters of one complete work, which they were. While the television series does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the books and is well worth the watching, there is nothing that can compare to actually reading Elana Ferrante’s words. “The Neapolitan Quartet” is a set of novels to which many Americans have been introduced through the HBO series, “My Brilliant Friend”.

6/7/2023 0 Comments Fear me bb reid seriesIt looked pretty scary to an eight-year old so I could only imagine how the younger boy in denim overalls, crouched over in tears, on top of the bars felt. We finally came to a stop near a set of bright blue monkey bars. We quickly passed swing sets, merry-go rounds, and jungle gyms, but I never really saw any of it as she pulled me across the park at top speed. “Mom, Lake and I will find Buddy and we’ll meet you at the car,” the girl rushed out as she grabbed my hand and took off running across the playground. I only gave my name as a distraction because for some reason I didn’t want the other girl in trouble, but now I didn’t know what to do as they both stared at me. I guess learning my name was some kind of victory for her. They both turned to me, her mother appearing confused while Willow grinned at me triumphantly. “Willow Olivia Waters,” her mother started, turning red. During the war, soldiers engaged themselves in a gruesome battle that left more than 62,000 soldiers dead as a result of gunshot wounds or diseases. However, in Gone with the Wind, the author has presented that the only ideals worth fighting for are the Southern ones. This turn of events marked the beginning of the American Civil War.ĭuring the war, both men and women from both the North and the South volunteered to help fight for their ideals. In 1861, there was an attack on Fort Sumter in South Carolina, and the attack necessitated four more states to withdraw from the Union and join the Confederates. As a result, seven states from the South withdrew from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America. Lincoln was a Republican Northerner, and the Southerners felt that the new president would seek to interfere with their slave trade. However, the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 was a major cause of concern for the Southerners. While the North depended on industrialization and paid labor to run its economy, the South depended on agriculture and unpaid slavery to run the economy. The war, which took place between 18, was caused by the growing tension between the North and the South. The story in Gone with the Wind is set just before, during, and after the American Civil War, and was one of the most devastating events in American history. 6/5/2023 0 Comments Stars by Colleen OakesWendy Darling has a perfectly agreeable life.
